C.R.E.A.T.E. The Young Confident Female:
Individual and Group Programs for Adolescent Girls and Young Women
DBT: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents
Young females have a tremendous number of stressors on them, and tremendous potential to be all they can be. If you are a young female you may be feeling overwhelmed or unsure about how to make decisions and handle all of the issues that are now in your life. If you are the parent of a young female, you may be concerned about how your daughter is handling her emotions, relationships, academics, college search or experience, weight and body issues, among many others. By creating a non-judgmental and confidential space for a young female to talk about what is going on in her life and also providing her with the tools and skills to manage her life issues, I help her to not only get through these times but to thrive now and in the future. In this process, I often invite parents to learn how to help their daughter's growth as well.
The skills taught to young females are:
Confidence Skills
Relationship Skills
Education Skills
Adapting and Coping Skills
Time, Goals, and Self-management Skills
Expression and Communication Skills
Individual Sessions
50- Minute Sessions with unlimited emailing in between sessions and weekly assignments (if desired)
125-Minute Sessions with unlimited emailing in between sessions and weekly assignments (if desired)
Groups
This is a talking group to help young females become their best by allowing them to openly discuss real and relevant issues that they are dealing with, get group support, and learn skills to manage the complexities of their lives. Weekly topics are chosen by the leader and also by the members. Discussions, music, creative art projects, readings, meditations, and games are used to help the group explore and understand how to best cope, learn, grow, adapt, and thrive. Groups meet weekly and have 6-10 young females.

Psychotherapy and Life Coaching Programs for Young Females
Many adolescent girls and boys are in need of DBT. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a specialized treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, self harming or suicidal clients, clients with eating disorders or addictions, or those that are severely depressed or anxious. DBT is a skill-building therapy, meaning that the process teaches clients extremely effective coping skills that they can choose to use, over time, instead of the harmful behaviors and thinking patters that are currently disabling them from experiencing healthy, happy lives and relationships. Typically, clients feel like their emotions are intense, misunderstood by others, and control their behaviors. These intense and powerful emotional states lead to choices and behaviors that are impulsive and often destructive, like sleeping all day, purging, drugging, self injury, or obsessive worry.
When parents, schools, or the young person themselves notices self-injurious, suicidal , depressed, reckless, raging or frequent emotional outbursts, shoplifting, binging and purging or restricting food, excessive alcohol or drug use, or unstable relationships with friends/partners, it is time to consider DBT. DBT is extremely effective and substantiated by empirical data.
DBT teaches clients and their families four areas of skills: Core Mindfulness (being in the moment), Distress Tolerance (getting though crisis without making things worse), Emotion Regulation (increasing positivity and decreasing negativity in life) , and Interpersonal Effectiveness (learning to communicate and get what you want in your relationships).
DBT treatment requires one 50-minute weekly individual session, one 90-minute weekly skills group session including parents, phone coaching in crisis moments, and weekly skill-practicing assignments.
